Drown Your Sorrow is the first single off his debut album and it features prominent Retrowave figure LAU on vocals. Having worked with LAU before on her own debut album Believer, Maxx Parker and LAU have come together again for a second time. Mixing Maxx's atmospheric production and LAU powerful, catchy vocals the song is bursting with feeling that will be stuck in your head for days. The lyrics are about not being able to move on after break up, feeling hopeless and trying to turn back time.
lyrics
Sitting in an empty bar
It doesn’t even help
Looking in the mirror
you don’t recognise yourself
Thinking of the times
that she deceived you but
how can you rewrite the story
to erase the pain?
Time goes by so slow
And you, just can’t go on
What to do to drown your sorrow
You don’t care about tomorrow
And you just keep wondering what went wrong
(every night and day you do)
What to do to drown your sorrow
You have tried but can’t let go of
Memories that hunt you
All night long
Lying in an empty bed,
With no one but yourself
Keep going in circles but
You cannot understand
Thinking of the times
that you believed her but
How can you delete the story
To forget the pain?
Time goes by so slow
And you, just can’t go on
What to do to drown your sorrow
You don’t care about tomorrow
And you just keep wondering what went wrong
(every night and day you do)
What to do to drown your sorrow
You have tried but can’t let go of
Memories that hunt you
All night long
And you wonder why (you wonder why)
You just keep trying and trying
But you never get to see the light
And you feel that life
Is so unsatisfying
But you can say at least you’ve tried
What to do to drown your sorrow
You don’t care about tomorrow
And you just keep wondering what went wrong
(every night and day you do)
What to do to drown your sorrow
You have tried but can’t let go of
Memories that hunt you
All night long

My favorite album from The Midnight, though everything they do is really a treasure. It's everything good about the synthwave scene and none of the bad. Lascaille's Shroud
